About Breda
A Voice Like An Angel
The voice of Irish Soprano Breda King is well known in the Chicago area and beyond.

She has performed everything from operatic recitals, to Irish Music festivals, to contemporary Christian concerts. She is also an experienced recording artist. Her crystal clear vocal stylings speak to the hearts of all who hear her, and bring a flash of beauty to the lives of others when they need it most.
Breda initially learned to sing at her grandmothers knee. By the age of 10 she was performing with her father, Roy Barry, an accomplished professional accordionist, on the local Irish music circuit. At school she was extremely active in music - and in Church Music in particular - as a member and sometimes director of a local liturgical Youth Choir. After graduating High School Breda went to study English Literature and Music at University College, Cork. After earning her Bachelor of Arts she spent further years of study to additionally earn a Bachelor of Music degree AND a Higher Diploma in Education (a teaching degree). During those years of study she put herself through college by teaching piano to young students on weekends. She also continued her intense involvement in Church Music and it was through this that she met her future husband, composer and guitarist Feargal King.
From East to West and Back
Breda and Feargal King moved from Ireland to the United States in 1993. For the first few years they lived in Roseburg Oregon, where Breda worked as a Director of Youth Ministry at a local Church. But since moving to the Algonquin/Lake in the Hills/Crystal Lake area in 1998 she has been a full time teacher of voice and piano. Over the years her reputation as a teacher has grown to the point where she often has to keep a waiting list of students because of the high demand for her skills. A number of Breda's students have gone on to pursue music at college level and professionally as performers, teachers and music business executives!
Breda's reputation as a gifted singer has also grown over time. Locally, she is much in demand at area Churches for weddings and funerals, and she has sung on a number of recording projects (and performed with) some of the biggest names in Catholic Church Music. Just this past summer she was flown up to Minneapolis by GIA Publications to record for up and coming young Irish composer Ian Callanan's new CD collection.
With her husband Feargal King she has recorded three CD albums of music - two of sacred music and also an Irish Folk collection. For more information see the products page on this site or visit the Kingsfold Music Productions web site.
